R.I.P. Tammy Faye

Only yesterday did I find out she was 85 lbs with inoperable cancer. Where Jerry Falwell was the evil incarnation of Christianity, this lady became the good personification of it(after she got off the PTL Club thank God). My mom would probably disagree but whatever. If more Christians were like her, the world would be a better place.

I know she is in Heaven now eating one of those hamburgers she talked about here.

The 8:05 Train

"Good Mawning Good Mawning, this is a Red Line train to North Hollywood what a beautiful day it is. Have a joyous beautiful morning and a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!"

"Remember, never give up on your dreams, never give up on yourself!"

These are the words I hear to work on the way from the subway train driver who has the voice of a soul station DJ or Sunday preacher.

Ok so how the hell can I not be in a good mood with my positive thinking guru/subway train driver spewing this positive thinking stuff and him telling us that we look marvelous today how beautiful we all are and that people don't tell us that enough. There is this train driver, the 8:05 North Hollywood subway out of Union Station that is just always full of positive and encouraging statements. He says them with fervor and solid belief.

Maybe it's just me, maybe I have an open heart, but that just goes far with me. I think I need to ride the 8:05 train out of Union Station every damn morning.

Yes, some days I take the subway to work. Days when don't have any driving plans during the day so I can save money on gas and help the environment. More people should do it. Don't drive if you don't have to. Screw the oil companies!

But back to the train driver…I have seen people smile and people's moods visibly changed, even if they laugh at his over the top positivity (Ed- I don't think that's a word!).

How much could the world change (or at least our own personal lives) if we valued ourselves, if we felt we were good, looked good and had encouraging people in our lives telling us to not give up on our dreams, to believe in ourselves.

Something to think about, that's for sure.

On that note, have a joyous beautiful morning and a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Rev. Jerry Falwell Dies

One down.

Well well well what an interesting day it has become. And how timely. I don't advocate celebrating the death of anyone, but is it wrong to agree with outspoken gay rapper Deadlee when said: "ME AND TINKY WINKY WOULD LIKE TO SAY WE AINT GONNA MISS U AND YOUR HATE - TODAY THE WORLD IS A LITTLE BIT BETTER FOR YOU LEAVING! BYE BYE".

A little bit of hate and ignorance has left the world and may the Lord comfort his family. Jerry Falwell was responsible for the Religous Right with the creation of the Moral Majority in the 80s. Some classic quotes:

"AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals."

"I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!"

"I do not believe the homosexual community deserves minority status. One's misbehavior does not qualify him or her for minority status. Blacks, Hispanics, women, etc., are God-ordained minorities who do indeed deserve minority status."

"AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharoah's chariotters."

On the attacks on 9/11:

"And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen."

So yes, this man was very pivotal at attempting to turn these free United States into a Theocracy of his version of the Bible. And he's gotten close to succeeding.

Oh well. I hope this ends a very troubling chapter of our political history.

Bye bye Jerry Falwell. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I'm not buying gas today

But it has nothing to do with the Great May 15 Gas Out or whatever the hell they're calling it this time. I am not buying gas today because I filled up my tank on Sunday. One day boycotts do not work and it's success is a falsehood. They don't work because you still end up buying gas on another day.

If you really want to stick it to them, stop buying as much gas period. Take public transportation to work one or two days a week.

I do!

Fire, Fire!

Griffith Park burns next to 5 Freeway

Last night was an epic night in Los Angeles. The hills above the city were on fire. It was saddening but oh what a site it was to behold. You kind of felt bad snapping photos but then thought, "well people aren't dying, homes aren't being lost". The kind of guilt you feel if you stare too long at a car accident. Anyhow. I am happy with the content it ended up creating.

After all, don't fulfilled lives just create content for others?
